Today, four individuals – two male and two female illegal Bangladeshi nationals – were detained by the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Guwahati railway station in Assam. They were intercepted while attempting to travel to Bengaluru.
The detained individuals, all from Sunamganj district, Sylhet State in Bangladesh, are identified as Abdullah, son of Afjal Sheikh, from Hobiganj village; Mosamad Moina (18), daughter of Isahat Khan, from Hobiganj village; Farzana (18), daughter of Gaffar Howlader, from Hobiganj village.
This incident follows a similar one on July 11, when GRP and BSF apprehended 11 Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian tout at two separate locations in Tripura.
According to GRP Officer-In-Charge Tapas Das, they received specific information leading to the apprehension of these individuals at Agartala Railway Station. The detained persons admitted during preliminary interrogation that they had entered Tripura illegally.
The apprehensions highlight ongoing concerns about illegal immigration and efforts by law enforcement to curb such activities along Bharat’s Northeastern borders.
