The Biren Singh led Manipur Government has issued a stern circular addressing the illegal sale and use of Mephentermine, a drug improperly distributed by certain pharmacies and fitness centres in the State.
The circular serves as a warning to all chemists, medical stores, fitness centres, and citizens about the detrimental effects of this practice. It emphasises that unauthorised distribution and promotion of Mephentermine have caused severe harm to Manipur’s youth, leading to addiction and significant health risks when consumed without proper medical supervision.
In response, the government has vowed strict legal action against anyone involved in the sale, purchase, or promotion of Mephentermine without a valid prescription and supervision by a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP). This includes potential prosecution to ensure compliance with medical regulations and safeguard public health.
