Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken aim at Congress and Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s “Khata-Khat” scheme, which promised to deposit Rs 8,500 into people’s accounts. The BJP leader questioned the existence of the scheme, asking where the promised machine has gone.
Criticising the Congress leader, CM Himanta challenged him to reopen the scheme. He also raised concerns about why Jharkhand Counterpart Hemant Soren has not deposited Rs 1 lakh into the accounts of women in his State under the same scheme.
Himanta Sarma didn’t hold back as he attacked both Rahul Gandhi and Soren, accusing them of deceiving the public and being friends because of their dishonesty.
Highlighting the unmet promises of employment and financial aid by the two ministers, CM Himanta contrasted their actions with those of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He praised PM Modi for providing financial support and shelter to the poor, as well as offering Rs 2,000 in aid to farmers and launching various beneficial schemes.
The Assam CM also pointed out that he has fulfilled his promise of providing 1 lakh government jobs in Assam within three years, doing it swiftly (fata-fat) rather than just talking about it (khata-kat).
