In a significant move, the Karnataka cabinet has given its nod to a bill that mandates 100 per cent reservation for Kannadigas in private firms for Group C and Group D posts, announced Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday. The decision was finalised during a cabinet meeting held on Monday.
“The Cabinet meeting yesterday approved a bill requiring 100 per cent recruitment of Kannadigas for ‘C and D’ grade positions across all private industries in the State,” Siddaramaiah stated in a social media post on X.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to prioritise the welfare of Kannadigas, Siddaramaiah asserted on the importance of ensuring opportunities for locals to thrive within their home State, preventing job deprivation in ‘Kannada land’.
“We are a government that champions Kannada. Our foremost duty is to safeguard the interests of Kannadigas,” affirmed the CM.
Sources within the law department indicated that the bill is slated to be presented in the Assembly for further deliberation on Thursday.
