Following the derailment of the 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express near Gonda in Uttar Pradesh, at around 2:37 pm on July 18, the Northeast Frontier Railway has rerouted three trains. This incident has significantly affected the railway operations in the area.
The diverted trains are:
15707 Katihar-Amritsar Amrapali Express
15603 Guwahati-Jammu Tawi Amarnath Express
15910 Lalgarh-Dibrugarh Avadh Assam Express
Passengers stranded from the derailed train are being transported by bus to Mankapur station near Gonda. From there, a special train has been arranged to take them to Dibrugarh, with stops along the route.
Tragically, media reports indicate that at least four people lost their lives when several coaches of the 15904 Dibrugarh Express, which was en route to Gorakhpur, derailed. The accident occurred between the Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations in Gonda district.
The ill-fated train had departed from Chandigarh station at 11:35 pm on July 17 and was heading towards Dibrugarh in Assam when the derailment occurred.
