Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has taken decisive action to ensure the safety and return of students from the State amidst ongoing protests in Bangladesh.
In an update on X, CM Sangma detailed the collaborative efforts between the Meghalaya Government, the Bangladesh High Commission, and the Indian High Commission to protect Indian students. So far, 63 students from Meghalaya have been safely evacuated.
To facilitate this process, the Meghalaya government has set up a dedicated team led by Nodal Officer Hiwot Rymbai (+91 96157 16153) and Assistant Nodal Officer Thomas (+91 84150 60802). A helpline number, 1800 345 3644, has also been established to provide additional assistance.
Furthermore, Meghalaya has extended its support to ensure the safe return of 95 students from Nepal and 7 from Bhutan, reflecting a broader commitment to student safety amid the unrest in Bangladesh.
