Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Lockheed Martin for its strong commitment to the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ initiative, highlighting the company’s significant role in enhancing Bharat’s defence capabilities.
Lockheed Martin CEO Jim Taiclet met with PM Modi to discuss the company’s contributions to Bharat’s aerospace and defence sectors. The Prime Minister’s Office shared on X, “CEO of Lockheed Martin Jim Taiclet met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Lockheed Martin is a key partner in Bharat-US Aerospace and Defence Industrial cooperation. We welcome its commitment towards realising the vision of ‘Make in India, Make for the World.’“
Lockheed Martin has been instrumental in advancing Bharat’s military technology, providing state-of-the-art systems in aerospace, naval, missile defence, and strategic sectors. The company has established a joint venture with Tata Advanced Systems Limited in Hyderabad for manufacturing C-130 J empennages, delivering over 200 units to date and increasing the use of locally sourced components.
Additionally, Lockheed Martin has moved its helicopter cabin manufacturing operations from Japan to Bharat, further strengthening local production capabilities. The C-130 J transport aircraft, a key asset in the Indian Air Force fleet, highlights the strategic importance of this collaboration.
