To combat littering and promote cleanliness, Sikkim has mandated that all tourist vehicles entering the State carry large garbage bags. This move aims to keep the State’s scenic beauty intact and involve the community in maintaining a clean environment.
Tour operators, travel agencies, and drivers must inform tourists about using these garbage bags for waste collection and disposal. The Tourism and Civil Aviation Department will conduct random checks to ensure compliance, with penalties for violators. Additionally, awareness campaigns and cleanliness drives will educate tourists on proper waste management.
