Purabi Dairy, operated by West Assam Milk Producers’ Co-operative Union Ltd or WAMUL, has partnered with the Assam Government to enhance its operations with a new dairy plant in Dhemaji district.
Under a recently signed agreement with the Directorate of Dairy Development-DoDD, WAMUL will take over the management of an existing 5,000-litre daily capacity dairy plant in Dhemaji.
This strategic collaboration is set to benefit both local farmers and consumers. By running the new plant, Purabi Dairy aims to open new markets and growth opportunities for dairy farmers in the area, including the implementation of training programs to support their development.
“This deal marks a major advancement for the dairy sector in upper Assam,” noted WAMUL Managing Director Sameer Kr Parida.
Parida added, “Operating the Dhemaji plant will significantly improve the availability of Purabi milk and dairy products across the region.”
The new plant is expected to start operations shortly, providing a valuable boost to the dairy industry in upper Assam.
