At the second annual Assam Police Sishu Mitra Awards, 26 officers were celebrated for their exceptional contributions to safeguarding child rights.
The ceremony took place at the Assam Police Institute, where Director General of Police GP Singh presented the awards to the distinguished officers.
The event highlighted the police force’s dedication to creating a safer environment for children throughout the State.
Director General GP Singh remarked, “Five years ago, we launched the Assam Police Shishu Mitra program. Last year, we established the Assam Police Shishu Mitra Resource Centre, which has significantly enhanced our investigation of POCSO cases… The conduct of Assam Police has improved considerably.”
The Assam Police X account highlighted the event’s significance, using the hashtag #ForEveryChild to showcase their commitment.
Special recognition was also given to the Superintendent of GMCH, the Nodal Officer for the SC/ST (PoA) Act, and the Special Public Prosecutor for the Kamrup (M) Special POCSO Court for their notable efforts in advancing children’s rights.
This acknowledgment is part of the Assam Police’s ongoing commitment to prioritise child safety and welfare. The Sishu Mitra (Child Friend) Awards aim to honour and motivate officers, who excel in their mission to protect young citizens.
