Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticised the Opposition for their disruptions in past Parliament sessions, addressing the issue at the start of the Monsoon Session on Monday. PM Modi urged lawmakers from all political parties to collaborate for the nation’s progress over the next five years.
The Premiere accused certain parties of employing negative tactics to divert attention from their own shortcomings. He alleged that the Opposition attempted to silence him during the last session of Parliament, asserting that such actions undermine democratic principles.
“You might recall how, in the previous Parliament session, efforts were made to suppress the voice of a government elected by 140 crore people. For 2.5 hours, attempts were made to stifle the Prime Minister’s voice. They tried to obstruct me from speaking in Parliament. The mandate given by the people is for the nation, not for any party. This Parliament is meant for the country, not for individual parties,” PM Modi said in his opening address.
With the Union Budget presentation imminent, PM Modi asserted that this Budget will chart the course for the next five years and lay the groundwork for achieving the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. He highlighted his government’s commitment to translating promises into tangible actions.
“This Budget session is crucial. The guarantees I’ve made are being put into action. This Budget represents a significant opportunity during the Amrit Kaal. It will guide our journey and help realise the dream of Viksit Bharat in 2047,” PM Modi stated.
He further noted that the third consecutive term of the current government is a rare achievement, reflecting a significant milestone in the nation’s democratic journey.
PM Modi marked the beginning of the Monsoon Session on the auspicious first Monday of Sawan, extending his greetings to the country. He urged for a positive and productive session, emphasising the nation’s anticipation and focus on this important parliamentary period.
