Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to brief him on the ongoing flood situation in Assam and the State’s development efforts.
During the meeting, Himanta Sarma updated the PM on the numerous measures being taken to address the flood challenges faced by the people of Assam. He took to the microblogging site X to share details of the meeting, stating, “Had the absolute privilege of seeking the blessings and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.”

The CM also discussed the progress of ongoing developmental projects in the State. He extended his congratulations to the Prime Minister as he begins his historic third term, noting, “On behalf of the people of Assam, I once again extended our heartfelt congratulations.”
The flood situation in Assam has shown improvement, with the number of affected individuals reduced to 95,000 across 11 districts, according to official reports. The current death toll stands at 98 due to the floods, landslides, storms, and lightning, with a total of 113 lives lost.
The affected areas include 345 villages spread across 21 revenue circles, as per the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) bulletin.
