Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Union Budget 2024, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, emphasizing its broad impact on various segments of society.
“This Budget empowers every layer of society,” PM Modi remarked in a video address. “It sets the path for the country’s poor, rural areas, and farmers towards prosperity.”
He highlighted that over the past decade, 25 crore individuals have risen out of poverty. “This Budget is dedicated to the upliftment of the emerging middle class. It offers boundless opportunities for the youth, a new dimension to education and skill development, and strengthens women, small businesses, and MSMEs.”
PM Modi noted that the Budget would redefine education and skill levels, providing robust support to the middle class, and introducing powerful schemes for the welfare of tribals, Dalits, and backward communities. “This Budget ensures a strong financial partnership,” he added.
The Prime Minister also discussed the Centre’s ‘Employment Linked Incentive Scheme,’ which aims to generate employment opportunities. “Under this scheme, the government will cover the initial salary for new entrants to the workforce. Youth from rural areas will have the chance to work with leading companies through the apprenticeship program,” PM Modi explained.
In her budget speech, Sitharaman detailed the scheme’s provisions, including direct benefit transfers of up to ₹15,000 for first-time employees, with eligibility based on a salary of up to ₹1 lakh per month. The initiative is projected to benefit 21 million youth.
Additionally, the Premiere highlighted the Budget’s focus on making Bharat’s defence sector self-reliant, boosting the tourism industry, and creating new opportunities for startups and the innovation sector.
