Gujarat Titans are reportedly set to part ways with head coach Ashish Nehra and Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki ahead of the IPL 2025 season, according to a report by News18. Nehra and Solanki have been pivotal to the franchise since its inception in 2022, which saw them clinch the IPL title. They also secured a runner-up position in 2023, narrowly losing to the Chennai Super Kings in a gripping final.
Legendary Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is being considered as a potential replacement for Nehra, though no final decisions have been confirmed yet. There have been no updates on possible changes to the backroom staff at this time.
A source close to the situation revealed, “A lot of changes are on the horizon. Ashish Nehra and Vikram Solanki are highly likely to move on, and discussions around Yuvraj Singh have already started. While nothing is finalized yet, significant changes in the coaching staff of Gujarat Titans could be imminent.”
The report also mentioned that IPL owners are expected to meet with the BCCI on July 30 or 31 to discuss the upcoming mega auction for IPL 2025. The meeting will address key topics including the number of player retentions, the Impact Player rule, and the salary caps for each franchise.
In related news, Rahul Dravid, who recently led the Indian team to victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, is reportedly exploring new opportunities in the IPL. Following the end of his tenure with the Indian team, Dravid has been linked with several IPL franchises. While there were earlier reports suggesting a possible move to Kolkata Knight Riders, recent updates indicate that Dravid may be in talks with his former IPL team, the Rajasthan Royals.
