The Bihar Assembly passed a groundbreaking bill designed to combat the rampant issue of question paper leaks and other fraudulent activities in government recruitment exams across the State.
The Bihar Public Examinations (PE) (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2024, introduced by State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, was approved via voice vote despite a walkout by the opposition.
The legislation is aimed at eliminating malpractices in competitive examinations, a significant concern highlighted by the recent NEET 2024 question paper leak controversy.
Under the new law, individuals found guilty of engaging in such fraudulent activities will face stringent penalties, including imprisonment for three to five years and a hefty fine of ₹10 lakh.
This move highlights Bihar’s commitment to ensuring the integrity of its examination processes and deterring future malpractices with severe consequences.
