The Uttar Pradesh Government is set to establish a state-of-the-art ‘futuristic township’ in Firozabad, known as the ‘Glass City of India’. This ambitious development will take shape in the Transport Nagar and Pachvan areas, aiming to drive economic growth through residential, tourism, hospitality, and commercial sectors.
The Firozabad-Shikohabad Development Authority has initiated preparations for the project, including the selection of a project management agency to oversee its design, planning, and execution. The Authority is currently inviting applications through a Request for Proposal (RFP).
Designed to accommodate the anticipated influx of tourists and temporary residents, the township will feature a blend of facilities such as star hotels, guest houses, residential areas for service workers, and various commercial zones. It will also include essential infrastructure like open and green spaces, ponds, cottage industries, warehouses, and social amenities.
Envisioned as an integrated development, the township will prioritise a sustainable, pollution-free, and stress-free environment. It will follow the ‘5-minute city’ concept, ensuring all essential services — such as schools, healthcare centers, postal services, police stations, e-facility centers, and sports clubs — are accessible within a 5-minute walk.
The township will also incorporate dedicated EV lanes along the main roads, equipped with fast-charging stations for electric vehicles and rickshaws. Facilities for non-motorized transport, including cycle lanes and parking, will be included.
With a focus on both blue and green infrastructure, the development will feature landscaped green spaces connected to water sources. It will be built as a solar-powered and zero-waste community, incorporating multi-level car parking and centers of excellence.
The initial phase of the project will cover 28 hectares and 13.766 hectares, with future expansion planned based on demand. The project management agency will conduct topographical surveys and drive the project forward once selected and assigned.
