The Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Guwahati is gearing up to offer courses starting from the next academic year, announced Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday following his meeting with Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
“I am delighted to inform you that the Minister has approved our request for IIM-Guwahati to begin courses from the upcoming academic year. We also delved into the Government of India’s support for Assam under PM-USHA, a central scheme aimed at funding state institutions,” CM Himanta posted on X.
“The Minister graciously agreed to measures for enhancing the capacity of our Teacher Training Institute. We also explored ways to boost technical education in Assam,” he added.
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted that the discussions with the Assam CM were productive, focusing on transforming the educational landscape in Assam. They discussed improving research, innovation, higher and school education, and providing the youth with better opportunities for education, skills, and employment.
“NEP (National Education Policy) continues to guide us in making our educational framework more dynamic. The Education Ministry is committed to enhancing the capacities of academic institutions and teachers, ensuring equitable access to quality education and meeting Assam’s educational priorities,” Pradhan stated on X.
“With education as our foundation and #Purvodaya as our direction, PM Narendra Modi’s government is dedicated to realising aspirations, empowering citizens, and transforming Assam into a growth engine for a developed India,” Pradhan concluded.
