Droupadi Murmu marked her two-year anniversary as President of India with a unique gesture, taking on the role of a teacher for a day. She engaged with students from Dr Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya at the President’s Estate in Delhi, focusing on critical environmental issues.
During the session, President Murmu discussed global warming and advocated for actionable environmental conservation measures. She accentuated the importance of water conservation and afforestation as crucial strategies to combat climate change.
“We should plant more trees and implement water-saving techniques such as rainwater harvesting,” she advised the students. The President also addressed the issue of air pollution and explored practical solutions to reduce its impact.

Interacting with Class 9 students, President Murmu expressed her enjoyment and appreciation for the conversation. She praised the students for their awareness of global warming and expressed confidence in their potential to contribute to mitigating the issue as they grow up.
“I really enjoyed interacting with you all and learned a lot from your perspectives. Your awareness at this stage is commendable, and I am optimistic that you will help in reducing global warming in the future,” she remarked.
In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, President Murmu encouraged the students to plant a tree on their birthdays. She highlighted the importance of individual efforts in environmental preservation, reinforcing the message that every small action contributes to a larger impact.
