The Indian women’s archery team has secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the Paris Olympics 2024 following a strong performance in the qualification ranking round.
The Olympics’ opening ceremony is set for July 26 at 11:30 PM IST, but the archers were already in action today, competing in individual and team events. The team finished fourth in the rankings, trailing Korea, China, and Mexico, and is poised for a challenging quarterfinal clash, likely against Korea.
Deepika Kumari, competing in her fourth Olympics, along with Bhajan Kaur and Ankita Bhakat, represented India in the individual qualification round. Their combined scores determined the team’s ranking. Ankita Bhakat led the team with a score of 666, securing the 11th spot. Bhajan Kaur finished 22nd with 659 points, followed closely by veteran Deepika Kumari, who scored 658 points, landing in the 23rd position.
