In a significant breakthrough, police in West Tripura district have detained two individuals, Mukabbar Miah and Bubarak Miah, on charges of human trafficking.
The arrests occurred in Belabar, a border village, and follow an investigation that was initially sparked by a separate case involving the apprehension of two Bangladeshi nationals.
Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Amtali, Sankar Das, explained, “The investigation into the trafficking case was launched concurrently with the probe into the arrest of the Bangladeshi nationals.”
This development represents a crucial advance in tackling the escalating issue of human trafficking in the region. Ongoing investigations aim to uncover the full scope of the trafficking network and ensure that all responsible parties are held accountable.
