In a recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former Tipra Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma and other leaders from District Councils across Northeast States received a significant assurance. Amit Shah pledged that the issues concerning the District Councils would be addressed within a month through the formation of a dedicated committee.
Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma shared the update on X, noting that the Home Ministry will establish a committee to tackle the concerns of the people residing in the District Councils. “Met Home Minister Amit Shah along with the leaders from the councils from the Northeast. He has assured us that within a month, issues relating to all the councils will be amicably addressed. A committee will be formed to solve issues relating to our people,” Pradyot’s post stated.

In a recent meeting he chaired, Pradyot highlighted about the unified agenda of the District Council representatives and Chief Executive Members from Northeast States. He highlighted the meeting’s aim to strengthen the Autonomous District Councils, ensuring they are better equipped to serve their communities.
“The primary goal of this gathering is to enhance the effectiveness and empowerment of the Autonomous District Councils. This collective effort seeks to address common challenges, advocate for necessary policy changes, and improve governance and development in the Sixth Schedule areas,” he added.
