On the 24th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil War, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang honored the brave soldiers who fought in the conflict. In a Facebook statement, Tamang underscored the importance of Kargil Vijay Diwas as a day of national pride and remembrance.
Describing the day as one of “immense pride and gratitude,” Tamang highlighted the valour and determination of the Indian armed forces during the Kargil conflict. He praised their actions as a source of inspiration for the entire nation.
The CM paid tribute to the families of the fallen soldiers, acknowledging their resilience and support, which were vital to the war effort.
“Their sacrifices are deeply respected and will always be remembered,” Tamang remarked.
The statement concluded with a call for national unity, urging citizens to strive for “a stronger, more secure, and prosperous Bharat.”
Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on July 26, celebrates India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War, which saw the successful recapture of key mountain peaks occupied by Pakistani forces.
