Karachi has been identified as the second most dangerous city for tourists, scoring 93.12 out of 100 in a Forbes Adviser list released on July 11, as reported by Dawn.
In the list of the three riskiest cities, Karachi ranks just behind Caracas, Venezuela, which scored 100, while Yangon, Myanmar, holds the third spot with a score of 91.67 out of 100.
The ranking indicates that Karachi has a high personal security risk due to crime, violence, terrorist threats, natural disasters, and economic instability.
Additionally, the city received the second-worst travel safety rating (level 3, reconsider travel) from the US State Department, as per Dawn’s report.
Karachi also faces significant infrastructure security risks, being ranked fourth in terms of the quality and availability of city infrastructure.
Forbes Adviser’s analysis compared 60 international cities across seven key metrics to determine the most and least risky destinations for tourists.
Karachi has consistently featured in lists of “unlivable” cities. In 2017, the Economist Intelligence Unit named it one of the world’s least safe cities, according to Dawn.
The Economist Group’s research and analysis division ranked Karachi among the top five “least livable” urban centers globally.
In a recent incident on Thursday, five people died following a clash between two groups in Karachi’s Defence Nishat Commercial area, reported ARY News.
DIG South Asad Raza confirmed that five individuals were killed and two others were injured in the altercation.
Eyewitnesses reported multiple injuries during the violent confrontation, and vehicles belonging to both groups were present at the scene.
