The call for the Central Government’s urgent intervention in the Manipur crisis is growing louder across various parts of Bharat. Recently, the Delhi Meetei Coordinating Committee (DMCC) staged a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, demanding immediate governmental action.
In Manipur, a joint protest was organised by the Khwairamband Ima Keithal Joint Coordinating Committee, Image Meira, and the Women’s Wing of the DMCC at Hao Ground, Chinga Mathak, Imphal East.
Simultaneously, Bangalore witnessed a parallel demonstration, unifying voices demanding justice and intervention from the Central Government regarding the ongoing conflict in Manipur.
Protesters in Delhi expressed profound disappointment over the perceived negligence and indecisiveness of the Prime Minister’s office and the Central Government. They called for accountability, transparency, and immediate action, stressing that the time for inaction has long passed.
Accusations of partiality towards Kuki militants were levied against the Central Government, with protesters demanding impartial justice. They emphasised the need for fair treatment and protection of all affected communities to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
A significant point of contention was the delay in resettling internally displaced people back to their original homes. Protesters highlighted that this delay has only prolonged their suffering and urged the government to expedite the resettlement process to restore the lives and dignity of the displaced individuals.
The collective message of the protest was a call to the Union Government to cease its alleged siding with Kuki militants and ensure peace, normalcy, and the peaceful coexistence of all communities in Manipur.
