In the Meghalaya Youth League 2024, Nongstoin and Ri-Bhoi District Sports Associations extended their impressive winning streaks with commanding performances across both U-14 and U-16 categories on Sunday.
At UUP Stadium, Pynursla, Ri-Bhoi demonstrated their dominance in Zone C. The U-14 team delivered a resounding 9-0 victory over Riwar Mihngi Football Association, while the U-16 squad secured a 6-0 win. Ribanshan Kyrsian emerged as a standout performer with a hat-trick in the U-14 match.
Nongstoin, competing in Zone D, maintained their unbeaten streak. They defeated Mawkyrwat District Sports Association 3-0 in the U-14 category and 2-0 in U-16. Both Nongstoin and Ri-Bhoi now lead their respective age groups with perfect records.
In Zone D, Pyndengumiong District Sports Association’s U-14 team also joined the ranks of teams with flawless starts, edging out Tyrsad Area Sports Association 2-0. However, their U-16 team faced a setback, falling 4-0 to Tyrsad.
The U-16 action in Zone A saw Williamnagar District Sports Association overpower Tura District Football Association with a 6-2 scoreline. Vrickan N Sangma made headlines by scoring the season’s first hat-trick in this category.
In the U-14 category of Zone A, North Garo Hills District Sports Association delivered a dominant performance, defeating Baghmara District Football Association 7-0. Negsim Ch Momin was exceptional, netting four goals.
West Jaintia District Sports Association made a notable debut in Zone B, securing a 5-1 victory in U-14 and a narrow 1-0 win in U-16 against East Jaintia District Football Association at Jowai’s Kiang Nangbah Stadium.
Laskein Block Sports Association bounced back from a previous loss, earning a 2-0 victory in U-14 against Saipung Block Sports Association. The U-16 match between the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw.
