Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived in New Delhi for a three-day State visit aimed at enhancing the longstanding ties between Vietnam and Bharat, late on Tuesday.
“Warm welcome to PM Phạm Minh Chinh of Vietnam as he arrives in New Delhi on a State Visit. Bharat and Vietnam share civilizational links and a longstanding friendship based on mutual trust. The visit will further strengthen our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” posted External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
The Vietnamese PM will engage in various programs and business events on Wednesday. His schedule includes a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.
Later on Thursday, PM Chinh will visit the Raj Ghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and then hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi will also host a luncheon in honor of the visiting delegation.
Additionally, Chinh will meet with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar during his visit.
“Bharat considers Vietnam as a key pillar of its Act East Policy and an important partner in its Indo-Pacific vision,” stated the Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday.
India-Vietnam relations have flourished since the establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Hanoi in 2016.
Prime Minister Modi has emphasized Vietnam’s role as a critical component of India’s ‘Act East’ policy and the Indo-Pacific vision, aiming to expand the bilateral relationship, including defence partnerships, and accelerate progress on existing initiatives.
