Tusshar Kapoor recently posted a throwback video from his European summer vacation on Instagram, showcasing his ride on the Eurorail — a renowned train network connecting 33 European countries. The caption, however, sparked controversy among his followers. Kapoor’s caption read, “No matter what! Even the slick #eurorail doesn’t compare to the satisfaction of travelling in the gritty Mumbai local trains! East or west India is the best!”
The video itself was not the issue, but the accompanying caption drew criticism. Fans took to the comments to express their discontent, accusing Kapoor of romanticising the challenging conditions of Mumbai’s local trains.
One user remarked, “Said no one. Please, we are not insects to travel the way we do in Mumbai trains. They are dehumanizing and it’s okay for you to say that.” Another comment pointedly questioned, “When did you last take a local train in Bombay with a selfie?”
Several other comments echoed similar sentiments, with users suggesting that Kapoor should experience the crowded local trains firsthand rather than glorify them from afar. “Because you don’t have to travel by them, that’s why,” one commenter said. “Next time make a reel of yourself traveling in a local. Walk the talk. Yapping is easy.”
Despite the backlash, Kapoor’s sister, Ektaa Kapoor, showed support with a red heart emoji on the post.
Earlier this year, Tusshar Kapoor had shared his own experience riding the Mumbai local train in a bid to avoid city traffic, posting a video from the first-class compartment with the caption, “#aboutlastnight Agar Virar churchgate wali railway ki 1st class seat li hai toh ek selfie video toh banta hai! When there’s a will there’s a way to beat the ghastly traffic back from shootlife on the outskirts of Mumbai. #naigaonvasai #hellishjamm.”
