The Meghalaya Government has authorised a 25 per cent salary increase for over 1,200 non-teaching staff members of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).
This decision was communicated by the Special Officer in charge of the Education Department to the State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha (SEMAM) and the Director of School Education & Literacy.
The salary hike applies to office staff at various levels, including Management Information System (MIS) personnel, District Education Officers (DEOs), and accountants, encompassing state, district, and block levels.
This approval follows a letter from the Finance (EA) Department dated July 18, 2024, and has been sanctioned by the Competent Authority, according to the official notification.
The announcement comes amid ongoing protests by the All Meghalaya SSA Non-Teaching Staffs Association (AMSSANTSA), which has been demanding salary increases.
