Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a warm welcome to Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his three-day State visit to Bharat, which concludes today. The ceremonial reception took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the two leaders shared a heartfelt hug.
The visit, which began on July 30, saw PM Modi greet Chinh and inspect a Guard of Honour by the combined defence services. The occasion was attended by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel, and Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal.
Following the ceremonial welcome, PM Modi and Pham Minh Chinh met with officials from both nations. The Vietnamese Prime Minister, accompanied by a high-level delegation including ministers, deputy ministers, and business leaders, also visited Raj Ghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Chinh’s agenda includes bilateral talks with PM Modi, who will host a luncheon in his honour. Additionally, Chinh is scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar met with Chinh, who expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and the efforts made to arrange the visit on short notice. “I want to thank you for your time and for the excellent arrangements for my visit,” Chinh said.

Jaishankar acknowledged the significance of Chinh’s visit as one of the earliest after the recent elections, marking it as a special privilege. He also conveyed condolences for the passing of Secretary General Niren Fu-Chang.
Bharat and Vietnam share deep historical and civilizational ties, which were formalised into a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during PM Modi’s visit to Vietnam in September 2016. Vietnam is viewed as a crucial component of Bharat’s Act East Policy and a significant partner in its Indo-Pacific vision, according to the External Affairs Ministry.
