The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) and CivicDataLab (CDL) formalised collaboration through an agreement aimed at enhancing data-driven strategies for managing extreme weather events such as floods.
The partnership focuses on optimising government resource allocation for disaster risk reduction (DRR), according to an official announcement.
Chief Secretary Ravi Kota praised the initiative, suggesting that Assam could set an example for other states by implementing such innovative approaches. He underscored the significance of data-driven decision-making, which he believes will benefit various state ministries and sectors, especially in building climate resilience.
Kota emphasised the importance of a collaborative approach involving all government agencies to develop a robust climate mitigation strategy.
CDL co-founder and Executive Director Gaurav Godhwani expressed gratitude to the dignitaries and the Assam government for their support in advancing data-driven solutions for policy reform. He elaborated on the features of the Intelligent Data Solution for Disaster Risk Reduction and outlined CDL’s contributions to disaster management in Assam and across India.
The deal was signed by ASDMA Chief Executive Officer Gyanendra Dev Tripathi and Gaurav Godhwani.
