Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma kicked off the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree plantation campaign in Assam on Thursday, marking the beginning of the Amrit Brikshya Andolan 2024. The launch event was held early in the morning at the Ministers’ Colony in Dispur, where the CM personally planted the inaugural tree.
The ceremony was attended by Minister for Environment and Forests Chandra Mohan Patowary and several senior officials, underscoring the campaign’s significance. The ambitious initiative aims to plant an impressive three crore trees across Assam by August 15.
Starting today, residents can collect saplings from designated local distribution centers. The distribution will continue until August 12, 2024. The campaign is designed to engage the entire state in a unified effort to increase green cover and advance environmental sustainability.
