Air India has halted all flights to and from Tel Aviv until August 8 due to the intensifying conflict between Israel and Hamas. The airline announced it is monitoring the situation closely and will support affected passengers by waiving rescheduling and cancellation fees.
The region has seen increased tensions following the Israel-Hamas war and fears of retaliation from Iran after the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. In response, airlines are avoiding Iranian and Lebanese airspace and suspending flights to Israel and Lebanon.
Other airlines, including Singapore Airlines, EVA Air, and China Airlines, are also rerouting flights to bypass Iran. OPSGROUP has advised avoiding Iranian and Iraqi airspace in light of recent escalations involving senior Hamas and Hezbollah figures.
On Tuesday evening, Israeli airstrikes resulted in the deaths of Hezbollah commanders Fuad Shukr and Hassan Nasrallah. Israel confirmed on Thursday that Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas’ military wing, was killed in a Gaza airstrike in July.
Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has vowed “harsh punishment” for these killings. In retaliation, Hezbollah launched rockets at northern Israel, citing Israeli attacks on civilian areas as the cause.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the country is on high alert and prepared for all scenarios, emphasizing a strong response to any attacks.
