In response to alerts from intelligence agencies, the Delhi Police have enhanced security measures around the Israeli Embassy and Chabad House following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31. Haniyeh and his bodyguard were killed in an airstrike that targeted his residence in Tehran.
Sources reveal that senior police officers convened to strategise a comprehensive security plan for the two Israeli establishments in the national capital. A senior officer confirmed that a multi-layered security system is now in place, including numerous CCTV cameras around both sites. Additional personnel may be deployed as necessary.
On Thursday, the Delhi Police addressed a false alert about “explosions” posted on X, clarifying it was a hoax and subsequently deleting the post.
In the past three years, two minor blasts occurred near the Israeli Embassy in Delhi, neither resulting in injuries. Security around the embassy was intensified last year following the outbreak of conflict between Israel and Hamas.
