In a crucial move following the gang-rape case of a 12-year-old girl in Ayodhya, the district administration has demolished the bakery owned by Samajwadi Party leader Moin Khan, who is accused in the case.
The action came after a raid by the Food Safety Department on Saturday, which resulted in the seizure of items from the bakery for investigation. The bakery has been sealed as part of the ongoing probe.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has actively pursued the case, raising concerns in the State Assembly about the delay in action against Khan. He asserted no culprit would evade justice. The CM’s intervention led to swift measures against the accused, following his meeting with the victim’s family on Friday, where he assured them of rigorous action.
The case involves allegations that Moin Khan and his servant raped the young girl at his bakery located in Purakalandar police station area of Ayodhya. Khan, a close associate of Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad, has been the focus of a public outcry demanding justice for the victim.
In addition to the demolition, police officials including Purakalandar police station in-charge Ratan Sharma and Bhadarsa outpost in-charge Akhilesh Gupta have been suspended in connection with the case. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Sohawal and other revenue officials have commenced the process of measuring Khan’s land and property.
The victim’s mother has expressed her gratitude for the CM’s assurance that the properties of the accused will be thoroughly investigated, and that strict action will be taken against any illegal holdings.
