Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has introduced a crucial policy change concerning land transfers between different religious communities.
Speaking at the State Executive meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati, Sarma outlined new regulations for land transactions.
CM Himanta declared, “Previously, inter-religion land transfers were conducted with ease, allowing Hindus and Muslims to buy and sell land from each other. While we cannot completely halt these transactions, the Assam Government has decided that any land transfer between a Hindu and a Muslim must now receive the Chief Minister’s approval. Without this authorisation, such transactions will not be permitted.”
