In response to increasing concerns about illegal migration from Bangladesh, Pherzawl District Commissioner Asish Das has announced the imposition of a night curfew beginning August 6. This proactive measure is intended to maintain law and order and address potential security threats.
The curfew, mandated under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagar Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, prohibits gatherings of five or more people and restricts outdoor movement from 6 pm to 6 am daily. Additionally, the directive bans the carrying of firearms, sharp objects, and other potential weapons.
The curfew will be enforced continuously, with relaxation periods from 8 am to 4 pm to allow for essential activities. Government agencies, security forces, and essential services are exempt from these restrictions.
For emergencies involving marriage or funeral processions, applications must be submitted to the District Commissioner or the District Superintendent of Police, Pherzawl, with written permission required to conduct such events.
This curfew aims to prevent the entry of illegal migrants and ensure the safety of Pherzawl’s residents. Security forces have been tasked with strictly enforcing the curfew and maintaining public order.
