In a bid to preserve and promote indigenous languages, the Assam Government has introduced a new Tai language textbook for higher secondary students. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu officially launched ‘Lit Khaam: Tai Textbook For HS 2nd Year’ during a ceremony held in Dhemaji.
The textbook, created by the Purbanchal Tai Sahitya Sabha, aligns with the State’s recent initiative to offer Tai as an elective subject for interested students through the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).
Minister Pegu shared this development on social media, highlighting the government’s dedication to encouraging indigenous languages within the educational framework.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reiterated the administration’s commitment, stating, “Our government is devoted to the use and promotion of our indigenous languages for future generations, and we are ensuring that Tai language education continues to thrive and be sustained for years to come.”
