In a courageous stand, Hindus in Bangladesh successfully thwarted an attack on a temple, according to Radharaman Das, vice-president of the ISKCON temple in Kolkata.
On Tuesday, a temple in Bangladesh was destroyed by attackers who looted valuables and ration supplies. However, on Wednesday, when a mob gathered near another temple, the local Hindu community managed to repel them, forcing the attackers to flee.
“Yesterday, the temple was completely destroyed, including the deities, and all valuables were taken, with even the ration supplies stolen. However, today, despite the presence of a mob, the area’s Hindu residents stood firm and the attackers had to retreat,” reported Radharaman Das.
In response to the escalating violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the targeted attacks. He asserted on the need for unity among followers of Sanatan Dharma to confront these threats.
“All our neighbouring countries are engulfed in turmoil. Temples are being destroyed and Hindus are being specifically targeted. We need to address why such dire situations have developed and learn from the historical context to prevent future crises,” Adityanath stated. He urged for collective action to protect and preserve Sanatan Dharma amidst these challenges.
The unrest in Bangladesh has been marked by violent clashes over job quotas, leading to numerous attacks on Hindu establishments. The political situation further intensified with the resignation and flight of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who sought refuge in Bharat. Reports indicate that Hasina may seek asylum abroad after being advised by the UK that she would not have immunity from legal action should she stay there.
Amid these developments, the Indian Opposition has urged the Narendra Modi Government to support the minority communities in Bangladesh.
