Former American President Donald Trump has announced that he will be interviewed by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk next week. Trump revealed this development on his Truth Social platform, stating, “On Monday night I’ll be doing a major interview with Elon Musk,” and hinted that more details will follow.
This upcoming interview follows a recent high-profile discussion Trump had with live streamer Adin Ross at his Mar-a-Lago estate, which reportedly set a viewership record for the streaming platform Kick.
The specific time and details of Trump’s interview with Musk are still pending.
Musk, who owns the social media platform X, has publicly supported Trump’s presidential bid after Trump survived an attempted assassination in Pennsylvania last month. This support marks a notable departure from the usually neutral stance of major social media figures. Musk has also been vocal against Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party.
Trump’s X account was permanently suspended following the January 6 Capitol attack but was reinstated under Musk’s ownership.
In addition, Musk has reportedly committed $45 million per month to a political action committee, America PAC, dedicated to supporting Trump. This committee aims to enhance voter outreach and registration efforts to counter the Democratic campaign’s strength.
The Trump-Musk interview comes just as Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
In other developments, The Washington Post has reported that five secretaries of the State are preparing an open letter to Musk. They are urging immediate modifications to X’s AI chatbot Grok, which recently spread misinformation about Kamala Harris’s eligibility for the 2024 presidential ballot.
The letter, led by Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon and endorsed by Al Schmidt of Pennsylvania, Steve Hobbs of Washington, Jocelyn Benson of Michigan, and Maggie Toulouse Oliver of New Mexico, emphasises the need for accurate voter information in this crucial election year.
As the 2024 presidential race intensifies, the anticipated Trump-Musk interview is expected to be a major event with potential implications for the ongoing electoral campaigns.
