The Manipur Government has condemned the circulation of a fake audio clip purportedly featuring Chief Minister N Biren Singh, which was released on social media to disrupt ongoing peace efforts in the state.
The contentious audio, which contains derogatory remarks about a particular community, has prompted the police to launch an investigation to trace its origin. The government has issued a statement clarifying that the recording is a fabrication and not the voice of CM Biren.
Authorities are concerned that the dissemination of this misleading audio is a deliberate attempt to undermine the State’s peace initiatives amid the ongoing ethnic violence. The police are actively working to identify those responsible for the creation and distribution of the false recording.
