Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt congratulations to Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat, who secured a bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 57 kg wrestling event at the Paris Olympics. Sehrawat, making his Olympic debut, earned the medal with an impressive 13-5 victory over Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz on Friday, marking Bharat’s first wrestling triumph at the Paris 2024 Games.
In a post on X, PM Modi lauded Aman’s dedication and perseverance. “More pride thanks to our wrestlers! Congratulations to Aman Sehrawat for winning the Bronze Medal in the Men’s Freestyle 57 kg at the Paris Olympics. His dedication and perseverance are clearly evident. The entire nation celebrates this remarkable feat,” PM Modi wrote, reflecting the pride felt across the country.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also praised Aman’s remarkable achievement. “Congratulations, Aman! With your remarkable perseverance and strength, you have secured the Bronze Medal for Bharat in the wrestling match at the Paris Olympics 2024. The nation is proud of your achievement,” he shared on X.
Similarly, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed his admiration for Aman’s performance. “Heartfelt congratulations to Aman Sehrawat for clinching the Bronze Medal in Men’s Freestyle 57 kg at the Paris Olympics! Your grit and determination have brought glory to on the world stage. You’ve made the nation proud with your remarkable achievement, inspiring countless others to chase their dreams,” Gadkari posted on X.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju joined in the chorus of accolades, acknowledging Aman’s exceptional perseverance and talent. “With immense pride, I congratulate Aman Sehrawat on winning the Bronze Medal in Wrestling Men’s Freestyle 57 kg at the Paris Olympics 2024! This remarkable achievement for Bharat reflects your exceptional perseverance & talent. Your triumph is a testament to hard work & dedication. Looking forward to your future successes,” Rijiju wrote on X.
The bronze medal match was an intense contest, with Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico initially gaining the upper hand by securing a point with a single-leg hold. However, Aman Sehrawat displayed resilience, scoring critical points by targeting Cruz’s shoulders.
After Cruz briefly regained the lead with a two-point move, Aman swiftly responded, taking control of the match. With just 37 seconds left, Sehrawat secured additional points and ultimately claimed victory through technical superiority, as Cruz’s desperate move resulted in him conceding another point.
