Donald Trump has revealed details about the recent assassination attempt in an interview with Elon Musk, despite previously vowing to never discuss the incident again. During their nearly hour-long conversation, Trump revisited the harrowing moment when a bullet narrowly missed him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
At the Republican National Convention last month, Trump had openly shared the ordeal for the first and only time, pledging not to recount it again. However, in his recent interview with Musk, Trump contradicted this promise, saying, “It was a miracle. If I hadn’t turned my head, I would not be talking to you right now, as much as I like you.”
Trump described the experience as both intense and surreal, stating, “It was a hard hit. It was very, I guess you would say, surreal, but it wasn’t surreal. You know, I was telling somebody, you have instances like this… where you feel it’s a surreal situation. And I never felt that way. I knew immediately that it was a bullet.”
The interview’s start was marred by technical issues, which Musk attributed to a targeted cyber attack on the platform. The glitches disrupted the stream, causing widespread frustration among viewers and leading to error messages and trending hashtags like ‘crashed’ and ‘unable to fetch spaces’ on X.
The conversation was part of Trump’s effort to revitalise his campaign, which has struggled since Joe Biden’s exit and Kamala Harris’s rise. Musk, who has previously voted Democrat, has recently supported Trump both financially and publicly following the assassination attempt.
