The World Bank’s four-member team spent two days in the Amaravati capital region of Andhra Pradesh, conducting a preliminary review of the development efforts initiated by the State’s NDA Government under Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
This visit, which took place over the weekend, is part of the process leading up to the potential clearance of a substantial loan for the capital city project.
The World Bank’s assessment follows an announcement by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in last month’s Union budget. Sitharaman revealed that the Centre plans to secure ₹15,000 crore in financial support for Andhra Pradesh’s capital through multilateral development agencies within the current financial year.
