The domestic stock market showed continued fluctuations during early trading today. The day began with a slight decline, and after the market opened, there was a struggle between buyers and sellers, causing the market to fluctuate.
While some buying support briefly pushed the market into positive territory, selling pressure quickly drove it back into the red. After the first hour of trading, the Sensex was down by 0.07 per cent and the Nifty fell by 0.08 per cent.
Among the prominent stocks, Hero MotoCorp, Cipla, Apollo Hospital, Britannia, and HCL Technologies saw gains ranging from 1.57 per cent to 0.82 per cent. In contrast, shares of HDFC Bank, BPCL, HDFC Life, Shriram Finance, and SBI Life Insurance experienced declines between 2.36 per cent and 1.08 per cent.
During the trading session, 2,235 stocks were actively traded. Of these, 1,151 stocks were in the green, showing gains, while 1,084 stocks were in the red, showing losses. In the Sensex index, 22 of the 30 stocks were supported by buying and were in positive territory, while 8 stocks were under selling pressure and in the red. Similarly, in the Nifty index, 31 of the 50 stocks were positive, and 19 were negative.
The BSE Sensex opened with a loss of 96.41 points at 79,552.51. The index saw fluctuations due to the tug-of-war between bulls and bears, reaching a high of 79,692.55 with buying support before falling to a low of 79,466.79 due to selling pressure. By 10:15 am, the Sensex was trading at 79,594.24, down by 54.68 points.
The NSE Nifty started with a nominal decline of 4.65 points at 24,342.35. The index also experienced volatility early on as buyers and sellers tussled, reaching a high of 24,359.95 and a low of 24,299.40. By 10:15 AM, the Nifty was trading at 24,327.60, down by 19.40 points.
On the previous trading day, the Sensex closed at 79,648.92, down by 56.99 points or 0.07 per cent, while the Nifty ended at 24,347, down by 20.50 points or 0.08 per cent.
